Our membership is structured around five key areas: quality recruitment, leadership development, social success, academic success, and philanthropy. The women of KD live by the motto: "Let us strive for that which is honorable, beautiful, and highest."
History: Kappa Delta was founded on October 23, 1897, at State Female Normal School (now Longwood University) in Farmville, Virginia. Since our founding there have been 203 chapters chartered throughout the US. There are a total of 487 alumnae associations.- the most of any other National Panhellenic Sorority.
Philanthropy: Kappa Delta has four national philanthropies. They are Prevent Child Abuse America; Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.; Children's Hospital of Richmond, VA; and American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Each year during winter quarter we hold our Shamrock event to raise money for PCA. We have spa nights and etiquette dinners with the Girl Scouts, and we do raffles and cookie sales to raise money for Children's Hospital and Orthopedic Surgeons.
